Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground pork sausage breakfast style, full-fat
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese freshly shredded from a block is best
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose baking mix such as Bisquick
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper freshly ground

Equipment

  • 1 Large Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Baking sheet Lined with parchment paper
  • 1 Small Cookie Scoop Optional, for uniform balls

Instructions
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the uncooked pork sausage, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, baking mix, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  3. Using your hands or a stand mixer, mix the ingredients until just combined. Do not overwork the mixture.
  4. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them about an inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  6. Allow to cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a serving platter. Serve warm.

Notes

For the best results, use room temperature sausage and cream cheese for easier mixing.
Shredding your own cheese from a block provides better flavor and moisture than pre-shredded cheese.
