Ingredients

  • 3.5 lbs boneless chuck roast About 3-4 pounds
  • 1 cup beef broth Low sodium is preferred
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1.5 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Equipment

  • 1 Slow Cooker
  • 1 Two Forks (for shredding)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chuck roast dry. In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Rub the mixture all over the beef.
  2. Place the seasoned roast in the slow cooker. Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce around it.
  3. Cover and cook on LOW for 8-10 hours or on HIGH for 4-5 hours, until the beef is fork-tender.
  4. Remove the beef from the slow cooker. Use two forks to shred the meat, discarding any large pieces of fat.
  5. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and toss with the juices. Let it absorb the liquid for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, sear the roast on all sides in a hot skillet with oil before adding it to the slow cooker.
Store leftovers with some of the cooking juices to keep the meat moist and flavorful.
