Ingredients

  • 4 large, round crusty rolls or small bread boules
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pinch salt and garlic powder
  • 8 ounces spaghetti cooked al dente
  • 1 pound lean ground beef optional
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Large Skillet
  • 1 Large Pot

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the top third off each bread roll. Gently hollow out the inside of the rolls, leaving about a ½-inch border. Place the bowls and lids on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes to lightly toast.
  2. Combine melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and garlic powder. Brush the mixture inside the toasted bowls and on the lids. Sprinkle the inside of the bowls with Parmesan cheese.
  3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef. Drain excess grease. Add marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, then bring to a simmer. Stir in the cooked spaghetti until fully coated.
  4. Spoon the spaghetti mixture into each garlic bread bowl. Top generously with shredded mozzarella cheese. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Tip 1: Pre-toasting the bread bowls is the most important step to prevent them from getting soggy. Don't skip it!
Tip 2: Use high-quality, thick marinara sauce. A watery sauce will make the bread bowls soft.
Tip 3: Feel free to customize! Add cooked sausage, mushrooms, or other vegetables to the sauce for extra flavor.
