Ingredients

For the Homemade Strawberry Sauce
  • 1 cup strawberries fresh or frozen
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice fresh
For the Hot Chocolate
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips good quality
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Equipment

  • 1 Small saucepan
  • 1 Medium Saucepan
  • 1 Whisk

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat for 10-12 minutes, mashing the berries as they cook. Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in lemon juice. Strain for a smoother sauce if desired.
  2. In a medium saucepan, warm the whole milk and heavy cream over medium-low heat until warm (do not boil). Add the white chocolate chips and stir constantly until fully melted and smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Whisk 3-4 tablespoons of the strawberry sauce into the white chocolate base until the color is uniform. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream and fresh strawberry slices to serve.

Notes

Use Quality Ingredients: The flavor of your hot chocolate will be much better with good quality white chocolate.
Low and Slow: Heat the milk gently and avoid boiling to prevent it from scalding or the chocolate from seizing.
Customize: Feel free to adjust the amount of strawberry sauce to reach your desired level of sweetness and flavor.
