Step 1: Create the Strawberry Reduction
- In a small saucepan, combine the strawberries, sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring and mashing the strawberries as they cook.
- Let the mixture simmer for 10-12 minutes until the strawberries have broken down and the sauce has thickened. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice.
- For a smoother texture, strain the reduction through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing on the solids to extract all the liquid. Discard the seeds.
Step 2: Warm the Milk and Melt the Chocolate
- In a medium saucepan, warm the whole milk and heavy cream over medium-low heat until steaming, but not boiling.
- Reduce the heat to low, add the chopped white chocolate and salt, and whisk until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
Step 3: Combine and Serve
- Whisk the prepared strawberry reduction and vanilla extract into the hot white chocolate base until fully combined and evenly colored.
- Pour into two mugs and garnish with whipped cream, marshmallows, or fresh strawberries before serving.
