Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8-inch or 9-inch cast-iron skillet with butter.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, and whisk until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing with a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Press the cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared skillet. Top with extra chocolate chips and a generous amount of Valentine's sprinkles.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is just set. The center should still be slightly soft.
- Let the skillet cookie cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
For the best texture, do not overbake. The cookie will continue to cook in the hot skillet after being removed from the oven.
Serve with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate or caramel sauce for an extra decadent treat.
