Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1.5 lbs Chicken Breasts 680g, boneless and skinless
  • 1/4 cup All-purpose flour 30g, for dredging
  • 1 tbsp Butter 15g
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil 15ml
  • 1/2 cup Honey 120ml
  • 4 cloves Garlic 20g, minced
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce 30ml, low sodium
  • 1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar 15ml
  • 2 cups White rice 370g, cooked and fluffy
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds 5g, toasted
  • 2 stalks Green scallions finely sliced

Equipment

  • 1 Heavy-bottomed skillet Cast iron or stainless steel preferred.
  • 1 Chef's knife For clean, thick slices.
  • 1 Meat thermometer To ensure internal temp reaches 165°F.

Instructions

Preparation
  1. Pat chicken breasts dry. Season with salt and pepper, then coat in flour, shaking off excess for a thin, even layer.
  2. Heat oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high. Sear chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until a golden-brown crust forms and interior is cooked through.
  3. Lower heat to medium. Add garlic for 30 seconds. Pour in honey, soy sauce, and vinegar. Simmer and toss chicken until sauce is a dark amber, translucent glaze.
  4. Slice chicken into thick pieces. Serve over fluffy white rice, pouring extra sauce over the top. Garnish with sesame seeds and scallions.

Notes

Always pat the chicken dry for the best sear.
Rest the chicken for 3 minutes before slicing to keep it moist.
